Point-Of-Sale Broadcasting

As culture and society continue to evolve, retail management marketing strategies are forced to adapt to the changing patterns and shopping habits of buyers worldwide. While conventional advertising certainly has its value as a tool for branding your business and products, advertising on television, radio and newspaper are assuming a secondary role as new and more advanced forms of advertising technology emerge to reach the target audience.

Lost Planet Media is a developer of Point-Of-Sale Broadcast Services, an emerging high technology advertising medium that enables retailers to reach potential buyers at the optimum point of buying vulnerability - inside your store! Utilizing cutting edge audio and video broadcasts, shoppers are reminded of other products and services you offer while they are still in your store.

This concept of point-of-sale product promotion is nothing new. For years retailers have been constructing product displays at checkout counters, filling racks with batteries, candies, magazines, chewing gum, and other products, to "remind" shoppers of auxiliary products they may need to complete their initial purchase - items the shopper may have otherwise forgotten or simply had not thought about until reminded while standing in the checkout line.

New technology, however, takes this marketing concept into the 21st Century.

Lost Planet Media can design a full-service audio (radio) station to broadcast throughout your store, keeping shoppers informed about current sales, new product information, event schedules, store hours, new product releases - just about any information you want to share with your customers on a timely basis.

In-store stations can be programmed with music to fit your store environment, announcements that remind shoppers to take advantage of special product offerings, and reminders not to forget auxiliary products - like batteries or film or cosmetics, beauty aids - just about anything in your product inventory.

And in-store broadcasts can include day-parted programming, meaning the tempo of the music and product announcements directed to a different in-store customer demographic can be changed as your business day develops. Perhaps you are targeting housewives in your early store day, and a younger, college-age crowd in the evening hours. The personality of your broadcasts can reflect this change through music and imaginative programming as you transit throughout the day. Programming can also be altered to include seasonal and holiday specials.

For an additional investment, storewide monitors can be installed in strategic locations throughout the store and compliment your audio broadcasts with full music and advertising video displays. From full wall video screens to smart, flat-screen mini-monitors at checkout stations, video can enhance your in-store broadcast capabilities and further the effectiveness of your broadcast campaign.

LOW POWER FM BROADCAST
Many corporate and retail businesses have discovered that broadcasting their own radio signal over a small area surrounding their physical location (store, theme park, hotel, theater) is an invaluable tool for sharing information with clients and customers BEFORE they enter your store or property. Information about parking, traffic, in-store promotions, etc., can be shared to "prime" listeners for the experience before them.

INTERNET STREAMING/BROADCASTING
Want to broadcast to the world? Audio straming over the World Wide Web is a good choice for those wanting to reach the multitudes, or for closed circuit radio programming for corporate applications like sales meetings, seminars, and lectures. A LOST PLANET MEDIA broadcast station can be configured and programmed for in-store play, low power FM broadcast, Internet streaming, or any combination of the three - for a cost lower then you think.

Cost Versus Effectiveness

As with all major marketing campaigns, the ultimate question is whether the effort and cost are worth the end results. Lost Planet Media develops outsource broadcast services (in-store broadcast systems) around the client's budgetary limitations. After consultation about broadcast strategies and a selection of the components to be used for the campaign, we offer detailed cost-breakdowns of the various elements involved with in bringing the project to fruition.

As a general pricing rule, we offer the following rough guidelines. Exact costs will vary greatly depending upon final selection and extent of services.

Radio-Only Broadcast Services
There are several types of broadcast services Lost Planet Media offers retail and service customers including in-house and self-contained broadcast systems, and point-to-point streaming Internet radio stations for larger or multi-store operations that may want to include customer access and interaction to their station at home.

Basic In-House Systems
In-House broadcast systems can come packaged to include everything you need to start broadcasting your own professional radio station inside your store or place of business. Packages can include a dedicated computer system to use as a broadcast station if a convenient and technically-adequate computer is not available for use. All software required to program your station is provided, as well as a startup production package to include a series of custom announcements you will want to develop to include in your new system. Depending on the complexity of your station and equipment and installation requirements, station startup costs can begin as low as $3,500.00 per store/location.

Basic Internet Streaming Broadcast Services/Low Power FM Broadcasts
Larger retail or service clients may opt to broadcast their station over the Internet or low-power FM, or both.
Internet broadcasting  enables the client-broadcaster to distribute their station signal via the Internet to other store locations and/or  their their customers and clients. It also enables Lost Planet Media to control programming from a remote location, further enhancing the ease of operation to the client. New music and announcements can be added regularly as well day-part and seasonal programming as required by the client.

Add Video Broadcast Services
The complexity of video broadcast makes it nearly impossible to offer a cost estimate without first identifying the type and extent of video services required by the application. However, basic video support of broadcast services can be calculated if video offerings are going to be limited to ambient video and prerecorded product insertions and announcements.
